BILOXI, Miss. (WLOX) - Not one but two ribbons were cut marking the opening of Memorial Hospital Biloxi and their new gift shop.

Memorial Health System took over the hospital back in February.

Administrator Kristian Spear says the transition has developed into nothing but medical growth for the people of Biloxi.

“We’re opening up access to care,” Spear said. “We’re bringing specialists across the coast and already in the network and new providers to come over here to Biloxi to bring that care. So, patients don’t have to travel outside and come right to Biloxi to receive the care.”

Along with the hospital, the new gift shop continues to give back to the health system as all profit goes into the hospital.

The shop is staffed by volunteers ready to assist and customers, patients, visitor
