More heartbreaking details have emerged on Doug Martin’s mental health struggles before he unexpectedly died on Saturday.

On Sunday, the tragic news broke that Doug Martin had passed away the day before at the age of 36. Martin’s agent, Brian Murphy, later revealed in a statement that “mental illness proved to be the one opponent from which Doug could not run.”

According to Murphy, Martin’s concerned parents contacted authorities and asked for him to receive “medical assistance.” Martin went to a neighbor’s house and was taken into custody by police, but became unresponsive and was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
