KAILUA-KONA, Hawaii (Island News) -- Police are investigating a “rash” of brush fires that broke out in Kailua-Kona on Thursday morning.
The fires happened at around 8 a.m. along Queen Kaahumanu Highway, between Hulikoa Drive and Hina Lani Street.
When fire crews arrived at the scene, they spotted at least eight fires that were all 10x10 feet. Firefighters and people who were driving by helped put out the flames.
Police said the fires appear to be suspicious and the cause is still under investigation.
