DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) — As North Carolina Central University prepares for its big homecoming game this weekend, students and alumni are reacting to new rules after two shootings last year.

North Carolina Central's homecoming is more than just a game; is a family reunion. The family bond, the Nest, is a tradition that brings everyone together like a family, as NCCU sophomore Camille Britt fondly recalls.

For many, NCCU's homecoming is a cherished tradition that spans generations.

"My dad graduated from here years ago, so we've been celebrating homecoming since I was a child," shared NCCU alumni Jade Jones, highlighting the enduring and positive aspects of the tradition.

Students and alumni will now have to adhere to big changes following two separate shootings last year.
