LINN COUNTY Ore. (KPTV) - Two men are facing murder charges for the death of Christopher Joseph Smith in Linn County, the sheriff’s office announced on Thursday.
Early on Oct. 4, Smith was found suffering from a gunshot wound in his car after he crashed into a fence near Highway 34 and Peoria Road. He died at the scene.
Following an investigation, sheriff’s detectives determined Smith had been shot in a parking lot at the intersection of Highway 34 and Peoria Road, east of Corvallis.
On Oct. 17, 44-year-old Steve Dwayne Simmons Jr. of Albany was arrested at the Geary Street Urgent Care in Albany, according to the Linn County Sheriff’s Office.
According to LCSO, Simmons tried to run from the officers on foot but was quickly caught.
