The Rajya Sabha elections in Jammu and Kashmir witnessed active participation on Thursday as 50 MLAs had cast their votes by 10:30 AM.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah was among the first to vote after polling began at 9:00 AM inside the Legislative Assembly complex, where three polling booths have been established. Voting will continue till 4:00 PM, followed by counting at 5:00 PM.
Officials said of the 50 votes cast, 28 were from the National Conference (NC), 20 from the BJP, and one each from the PDP and Congress.
While the NC is comfortably placed to win three of the four Rajya Sabha seats, the contest for the fourth seat has drawn considerable attention, with both NC and BJP reportedly having 28 votes each.
