A grim discovery in the Australian outback has prompted a fresh investigation by homicide detectives.
Human remains were found near Charters Towers in north Queensland , near the Flinders Highway — dubbed the “highway of death” due to its dark history of disappearances.

The find was made on Monday in Breddan, a rural area about 1.5 hrs southwest of Townsville .
Detectives are waiting on DNA test results to determine whether the bones belong to anyone linked to ongoing missing persons cases.
The location of the discovery has drawn attention, sitting close to where 22-year-old Jayden Penno-Tompsett disappeared on New Year’s Eve in 2017.
