A Kings Mountain based boy scout recently killed three birds with one stone, completing a community service project, earning his Eagle Scout rank and providing a dog park for families in Bessemer City.

Nathaniel Kaiser, 17, spent more than one year fundraising to bring his Eagle Scout service project idea to life.

He wanted to build a dog park primarily because his own black labrador, named Chipper, often needs space to run and play, he said.

He hosted spaghetti dinners, barbecue and breakfast sales, worked on a farm and tried using GoFundMe. Finally, after raising about $5,000, he started reaching out to nearby city leaders.
