The National Weather Service released a winter weather advisory at 1:50 a.m. on Friday valid from Saturday 11 a.m. until Monday 5 a.m. for North Oregon Cascades, Cascades of Marion and Linn counties and Cascades of Lane County.
The weather service comments, “Snow expected for elevations above 3500 ft. Total snow accumulations of 6 to 10 inches, with accumulations of 12 inches or more above 5500 ft. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph.”
“Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous,” adds the weather service. “Have a winter emergency driving kit readily available. Common items to include: flashlight, batteries, blankets, a shovel, water, non-perishable food items, tire chains, etc. Be aware that walking surfaces may be slick. Walk with extra care.”
