Payments worth up to £300 will be arriving in bank accounts of millions of state pensioners in November.

This year's Winter Fuel Payments will start being handed out from the end of next week.

In a major change this year, around nine million over-65s will qualify for the cash.

In previous years the winter allowance was universal for all pensioners.

Last year, it was stripped from millions and only given to the very poorest.

New rules are in place this year meaning all retirees with incomes under £35,000 will receive the Winter Fuel Payments.
