BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WAFF ) - Alabama A&M head football coach Sam Shade will make his return to Birmingham for the 84th Magic City Classic.

Shade grew up in Birmingham and attended the annual Magic City Classic up until he went to college.

“Man, I went a bunch,” Shade said. “I went all the way up until I went to college. So, I went to a lot of Magic City Classics.”

As an athlete, Shade played many games at Legion Field Stadium.

From 1991-1994 Shade played for the University of Alabama. In 1992, Shade played in the SEC Championship at Legion Field Stadium. Shade won a national title at Alabama in that 1992 season.

“I played a number of games there as a high school and college player,” Shade said. “A number of big games out there, actually. A couple of SEC championships, the first two.
