A driver accidentally drove onto the still-under-construction Gordie Howe International Bridge last month after becoming "disoriented" trying to navigate the construction site, an official said.
The truck driver found his way onto the bridge on Sept. 29, Tara Carson, the Windsor-Detroit Bridge Authority communications director, told The Detroit News.
He was attempting to cross the Ambassador Bridge a few miles away, Carson said. He was allowed into the project site to make his way to the Ambassador Bridge, but given the "size and complexity" of the Gordie Howe's construction site, he became confused, she said.
After driving onto the span from the United States side, Canada Border Service Agency and Bridging North America security intercepted the driver and directed him back to the Unite
