CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - The chief of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said his officers saved lives Thursday evening when they shot and killed a person accused of shooting two civilians, kidnapping another, and leading a police chase.
Police Chief Johnny Jennings said the deadly Oct. 23 situation began just after 4 p.m. in a neighborhood on in northwest Charlotte. At that point, the chief said officers got a call about a shooting and immediately responded.
When police got to the neighborhood, they found two people shot. Both were taken to the hospital, where one died and the other was in critical condition as of Thursday night.
About the same time police got the initial call, they got another from the same area, which reported a home invasion.
