EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEVV) — Cold weather is arriving earlier than expected, prompting an early start to Evansville's White Flag season.

Local shelter United Caring Services says their program was originally set to begin November 1st.

However, with overnight temperatures dipping below 40 degrees, organizers have declared White Flag in effect immediately.

The early activation may also continue through Friday night.

United Caring Services thanks the community for donating blankets and supplies to help those in need of warmth.
