EDMOND — The University of Central Oklahoma ‘s Hispanic American Student Association will host its annual Dia de los Muertos celebration from 6-9 p.m. Oct. 30 in Plunkett Park , weather permitting. The free, family-friendly event is open to the public.
Observed Oct. 31-Nov. 2 in Mexico and parts of the United States, Dia de los Muertos honors deceased loved ones through vibrant cultural traditions. Celebrants often build altars with photos, candles, marigolds and sugar skulls as a way to welcome spirits back for a joyful reunion. HASA will feature a community altar and invites attendees to bring photos of family or friends they wish to remember.
“Dia de los Muertos at UCO is more than a celebration; it’s a meaningful space for cultural expression and visibility,” said Marissa
