WASHINGTON — A federal court did not make a ruling on Friday after more than two and a half hours of oral arguments regarding the presence of the National Guard in the District.

A week ago, D.C. Attorney General Brian Schwalb filed a motion for a preliminary injunction and Section 705 stay, asking U.S. District Judge Jia Cobb to stop the potentially indefinite National Guard deployment in the city.

An attorney representing the Office of the D.C. Attorney General (OAG) argued that the deployment of the national guard troops in the District is illegal and an overreach of President Donald Trump.
