SPRINGHILL, La. — A now—former Springhill police officer has been arrested on a felony charge of malfeasance in office after allegedly running a private citizen’s license plate for personal reasons, authorities confirmed Friday.
According to Louisiana State Police, Amandia Hamilton, 43, of Shongaloo, surrendered to authorities on Thursday after a warrant was issued for her arrest. She was booked into Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center on a $2,500 bond, which she posted immediately.
Springhill Police Chief Will Lynd said he learned of the incident about two months ago and launched an internal investigation after receiving a complaint that Hamilton had used a law enforcement database for non-work-related purposes.
