COLCHESTER, Vt. (ABC22/FOX44) - A Bristol, Vermont native didn't know it at the time, but his 8-year-old brain had hatched a colorful idea that ended up inspiring millions.
ABC22/FOX44's Roy Santa Croce sat down with Chris Straub, who came up with the crayon name "robin's egg blue" in 1992 while in elementary school.
"My mom being a third grade teacher, that was just something that we had. So, I was definitely always coloring always drawing. Obviously with Crayola products. So, I think this contest was the natural extension of things we had around the house."
Crayola announced the results of its first ever "global color vote" this week, in which people from over 180 countries voted for their favorite colors The top three are cerulean, robin's egg blue, and wisteria.
