SPOKANE, Wash. — The Washington State Department of Health (DOH) just received more funding from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) to continue providing food benefits for the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Nutrition Program.
The funds will be given through mid-to-late November. DOH says the estimate is based on the current WIC redemption rates.
If the rates continue to increase, the available funding will run out sooner than expected.
DOH says they are continuing to closely monitor the funding situation and will provide updates to the public as soon as they become available. To look at the updates, you can click here to go to DOH's Federal Government Shutdown webpage.
