YOUNGSTOWN A nonprofit organization, aimed at providing mental health and education services to children, is celebrating a milestone.

Alta Care Group is celebrating its 50th anniversary with a special staff event on Friday, October 24.

The organization is aimed at supporting the social, emotional, behavioral, education and physical well-being of children, adolescents and young adults throughout the region.

According to a news release outlining the event, Alta Care Group got its start in 1976. Gregory F. Cvetkovic began the organization as D&E Counseling.

Since 1976, Alta Care Group has grown across Columbiana, Mahoning and Trumbull Counties to provide care to nearly 10,000 members of the community every year.
