MECKLENBURG COUNTY, N.C. — Mecklenburg County Sheriff Garry McFadden announced on Friday his office has established improved communication protocols with Immigration & Customs Enforcement officials following a recent meeting

McFadden said he requested the meeting with ICE on Oct. 17, citing recent incidents across the country, including a shooting in Los Angeles involving a TikTok creator and a U.S. Marshal during an immigration enforcement operation, as well as a recent incident McFadden said happened at an Uptown Charlotte pond involving ICE agents attempting to make an arrest near the courthouse.
