LINCOLN COUNTY, N.C. — WCNC Charlotte has chosen to use this mugshot because of the nature of the alleged crime.

The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office says a man from the Vale community is facing child sex abuse charges following an investigation launched in late September 2025.

Deputies shared on Friday that the investigation began after they received information from the FBI about a child sex abuse material investigation into 43-year-old Nolan Kyle Nance. They worked with the agency and handled search warrants at Nance's residence, seizing multiple electronic devices on October 1.

The sheriff's office said illegal images were found on Nance's devices. He was then charged with eight counts each of second-degree and third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor.

Nance was taken into custod
