Eric Williams, 37, was arrested by the Savannah Police Department (SPD) in connection to Thursday’s armed robbery at a Bank of America.

Around 3:40 p.m., SPD officers responded to the bank located on E. Victory Drive after reports of an armed robbery at a commercial establishment.

An SPD press release stated that before officers arrived on scene, the suspect fled and unsuccessfully attempted to steal two vehicles.

Williams was later taken into custody by SPD patrol units.

The Chatham County Police Department, Thunderbolt Police, the FBI and K-9 officers from the Chatham County Sheriff’s Department assisted in the investigation.

Chatham County Sheriff Richard Coleman said his K-9 officers retrieved a gun, money and mask after the robbery.
