Día de los Muertos will look a little different in Emporia this year.
Due to forecasted heavy rainfall throughout the day Saturday, Hispanics of Today and Tomorrow and Emporia Main Street have decided to cancel the annual parade with no plans to reschedule.
The event typically draws thousands of people downtown in a celebration that blends the ancient customs of the Day of the Dead with contemporary Halloween activities.
The festival will instead be relocated indoors at Casa Ramos. Emporia Main Street will release additional details on their Facebook page and website .
In addition to Día de los Muertos, Main Street also announced the rescheduling of the Downtown Trick-or-Treat and Costume Contest to Friday, Oct. 31 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
