LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has denied the State of Michigan’s appeal for several federal disaster assistance programs following the March 2025 ice storm that caused widespread damage across northern Michigan.

Between March 28 and 30, a severe winter storm struck northern Michigan, coating the region in ice and causing extensive power outages, hazardous conditions, and record levels of infrastructure damage.

Rural electric cooperatives were among the hardest hit, facing significant economic losses.
