CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - Just outside his door on North Hoskins Road in Charlotte, Jesse Ortiz said a normal Thursday afternoon quickly turned into a crime scene. He said the scariest part was seeing a man he thinks was behind the violence.
The violence unfolded on Thursday, Oct. 24, with a double-shooting. One of the people shot died at the hospital.
“I just thought like maybe somebody lit like one firework. It was one shot, then a second later it was two, and then three, then it was just a bunch,” he said.
Another call in the same area reported a home invasion, during which the same suspect allegedly broke into the home, kidnapped a woman, and stole her car. Officers said there was a police chase that ended with a deadly shooting by police on West Morehead Street.
