New Delhi, Oct 24 (UNI) On account of Chhath festival, October 27, Monday, will be a government holiday, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced today.

According to the CM, the holiday is being observed on Monday, as the ‘third day’ of this four-day festival is the most important one.

On the third day of Chhath, devotees offer prayers to the setting Sun God at riversides or ponds at sunset.

Preparations begin early in the morning, with families busy performing various rituals, and considering this, the government has declared October 27, a holiday.

Extending her greetings to devotees, Gupta said that Chhath is a festival dedicated to nature, where people worship the Sun God and Chhathi Maiya.
