ATLANTA — Georgia officials said they've received new guidance from the USDA about SNAP benefits for recipients next month.
The USDA notified the Georgia Department of Human Services that there was insufficient funds to cover November SNAP benefits due to the government shutdown.
Initially, Georgia officials said that, based on the USDA guidance, the cards would no longer work starting on November 1. They were encouraging recipients to plan ahead and shop for needed items.

But in an update, DHS said recipients will still be able to use any of the benefits that were issued on their EBT cards before Nov. 1.
