AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - It started with a phone call to a small business in Amarillo.
“They called the [business] line and asked for me by name,” said Perry. “I answered. It was deputies with Randall County Sheriff’s Office and they told me that it was a serious matter and they would be recording the call.”
Perry (not his real name) is the son of a popular Amarillo-area business owner.
Perry is in his mid-20s, has never been to jail and never had a traffic ticket. As he listened to the Randall County deputy sternly inform him that they had a warrant and he would be taken to jail, he was gripped by icy fear.
“I’m trying to stay away from all that,” he explains. “They told me the call would be recorded and that I needed to move to a more personal line so we could handle business.”
