Multiple Spearman volunteer firefighters step down from department

SPEARMAN, Texas (KFDA) - Ten volunteer firemen from Spearman have stepped down due to an internal issue within the department.

Last night, Spearman City Manager Justin Parker held a brief meeting at the fire station to address many of their concerns.

Since the meeting, 10 firemen have penned their resignations, with some citing “leadership concerns.”

Parker says such a loss of manpower in a small town like Spearman is never easy to overcome.

“It’s tough when you have this kind of thing in a small community. Everybody knows everybody, lots of heartache on either side of it, and I understand it. I appreciate the members who have served us and the ones that continue to serve. We will have to just carry on and move forward,” said Parker.

Parker says there is still a sufficient number of f
