CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The former Mecklenburg County Chief District Court Judge who was removed from her role in April 2024 has announced she's running for a soon-to-be-open seat in the Superior Court in 2026.
Elizabeth Trosch shared her candidacy announcement on Facebook on Thursday. She touted her 16 years of service in the District Court, saying she led it through the COVID-19 pandemic and established new strategies for case management as North Carolina launched a fully digital system.
Trosch is running for seat 26H, which is currently held by her brother-in-law, Louis A. Trosch Jr. He shared earlier in the week that he would not run for re-election for the seat. Trosch Jr., a graduate of West Charlotte High School, has served as a judge since January 1999.
