NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) -- A man has been sentenced to 40 years in prison after he was convicted of first-degree manslaughter and unlawful gun possession in connection to a fatal shooting during a party at a Meriden recording studio in 2021.
According to the office of the State's Attorney for the Judicial District of New Haven, 27-year-old Brandon Ramos of Meriden was sentenced to 40 years in prison on Monday in connection to the fatal shooting of 20-year-old Jyineez Cruz of Meriden on Aug. 22, 2021.
According to evidence presented at trial, Ramos was hosting a birthday party at his recording studio in downtown Meriden when an argument between him and Cruz took place in the parking lot outside in the early hours of Aug. 22, 2021.
