A 35-year-old man who was fatally struck by a vehicle while riding his bike in Long Beach was identified Friday.
Raul Augustin Gallopa of Long Beach was struck shortly before 8 p.m. Oct. 6 near East Fourth Street and Bonito Avenue, according to the Long Beach Police Department and county medical examiner.
The bicyclist was found unconscious on the road, police said. He was taken to a hospital in critical condition, but he died Monday, according to the medical examiner.
The motorist who struck Gallopa remained at the scene. Police said Gallopa was riding east on Fourth Street and was trying to turn north on Bonito Avenue when he was struck by a 2021 BMW 330i being driven “at a high rate of speed.”
