DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) — Chilling 911 calls are shedding new light on the horrific murder of a Duke Hospital nurse in Durham.
Auriel Lowe's family is mourning her death. Prosecutors said she was killed by her boyfriend back in September. She was only 34-years-old
“All the words you’ve heard a thousand times, they’re so true,” Paul Lowe, Auriel’s father, told CBS 17 last month. “You’re just numb. You don’t know what to feel for a while. It’s a unique kind of pain losing a child.”
31-year-old Christopher Whitley is charged with murdering Auriel before a standoff with police at an apartment complex on Laurel Springs Drive in south Durham.
New 911 calls obtained by CBS 17 lay out the disturbing moments leading up to the standoff. The caller identified herself as Whitley's friend.
