DOTHAN, Ala (WDHN) -- Have you ever noticed the eyes in the sky during a search for missing people or to catch a fleeing suspect? Maybe you have seen a spotlight brighten up the night sky?
That may be a WASP, better known as the Wiregrass Aviation Support Program.
The program began over 20 years ago as a partnership with the Dale County Sheriff's Office and has grown as more law enforcement agencies have joined.
"Our partnership has grown because aviation is not cheap, so we share it with other agencies to better protect first responders, search and rescue, and protect officers on the street," Tim McDonald, Dale County Sheriff's Deputy, tells WDHN.
