HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Alaska Airlines is working to normalize operations after an IT outage Thursday led to a systemwide ground stop for the airline’s flights.
The issue began around 12:30 p.m. when a failure occurred at their primary data center.
The ground stop was lifted at 8:30 p.m. the same day.
Hawaiian Airlines flights were not impacted, despite the two airlines’ recent merger.
As of 10 a.m. Friday, more than 400 flights on Alaska and Horizon were canceled.
More than 49,000 passengers have had their travel plans disrupted in the last two days, according to Alaska Airlines.
