LOUISVILLE, Ky. —
A community effort to keep kids warm during the cold weather is expanding.
The Chase Gavin Coat A Kid drive collects new coats and other winter gear for Jefferson County Public Schools students.
Several businesses serve as drop-off sites.
Now, there are collection bins at every Jefferson County Clerk's Office.
Interim Clerk David Yates and his family started the initiative when he served on Metro Council.
"Not only are we trying to keep the kid warm, we're trying to show them the love and compassion in this community at a time where people are so worried about juvenile crimes and it may be children who may not be shown compassion.
