JAMESTOWN — Claire Grinde is only an eighth grader and she's a two time-state cross-country champion.
Grinde of Hillsboro/Central Valley, ran in the 2025 NDHSAA Class B State Cross-Country Championships on Friday at Jamestown's Parkhhurst Recreation Area. Grinde crossed the line at 18:29 — 21 seconds faster than her state championship run last year. Three-time state champion, Brynn Hanson of Des Lacs-Burlington finished fourth out of 267 runners with a time of 19:26. Hanson was named the Class B Senior Athlete of the Year.
Owen Johnson, a senior out of Northern Cass, won the Class B boy's title with a time of 15:44. 2024 and 2023 state champ, Jonah Njos, of Bowman County placed third overall with a time of 16:21. Njos was named the 2025 Senior Athlete of the Year in the sport of boys cro
