OCONTO, Wis. (WBAY) - One person is safe after officials say a car crashed into the Oconto River.

Oconto Fire Rescue crews were called to McDonald Street and Smith Avenue just before 5 p.m. on Friday for reports of a vehicle in the water.

At the time, authorities were told three people were in the water.

It was later clarified that the two other people in the water were witnesses who offered assistance and that only one person was inside the vehicle when it crashed.

Nobody was hurt, according to authorities.

The cause of that crash remains under investigation.
