Reidar Slotten “finally got a little space” and scored on his only shot of the game as the Wood River Wolverines erased a two-goal deficit to defeat the Sandpoint Bulldogs 3-2 in an Idaho Class 5A boys soccer semifinal contest at Columbia High School in Nampa on Friday.
“It was pretty nice to get a little space and be able to shoot it,” Slotten said.
Slotten shot the ball from about 25 yards out and found the back of the net three minutes and 42 seconds into the overtime period after the teams were deadlocked at two goals apiece after 80 minutes.
“It’s the characteristic of a talented player,” said Wolverines head coach Greg Gvozdas. “You can slow him down for so long, but once he gets his chance, he’s going to make you pay for it. That was a great shot at the end and well-deserved.”
