HONOLULU (Island News) -- Many federal workers and contractors are feeling the pain with zeroed out paychecks for the first time since the federal government shut down.
"Missing one paycheck can make a huge difference, especially with the cost of living when you have to pay your rent or your mortgage," said Brandon Lavin, a federal worker. "Like it's tough."
And with no end in sight, "it's hard to have extra cash at the end of your paycheck to put away for savings so that when things like this happen," Lavin said. "Some of us don't have that like savings to pull from."
Others are just a paycheck away from poverty.
"Living here, everybody's majority pretty much paycheck to paycheck," said Shaise Quisano, who works at Pearl Harbor. "It is definitely taking a toll on all of us, especially
