David Strelec has been backed to come good for Middlesbrough, with boss Rob Edwards calling for patience with the Slovakian summer signing.
Strelec joined Boro this summer from Slovan Bratislava in a £6.5 million deal, with plenty of fanfare around his arrival. As well as such a big fee, he’d been a long-known target for the club, and then scored a stunning goal for his country against Germany just after completing the move, to send expectations skyrocketing.
The 24-year-old striker was quickly off the mark in a Boro shirt, netting on his home debut for the club in the win over West Brom. But he’s not yet netted another, while struggling to reach the heights yet that had been hoped of him.
