Virat Kohli on Saturday (October 25) went past Kumar Sangakkara to become the second-highest run-scorer in ODI history, while batting against Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground in a dead-rubber final ODI of a three-match series. By reaching 54* in the 32nd over of the second innings, Kohli got to 14,235 runs in his 305th ODI, beating Sangakkara’s 14,234 in 404 matches, a whopping 99 more than the Indian.
Only Kohli’s idol, Sachin Tendulkar, with his world-record 18,426 in 463 games, stands between the Delhi right-hander and the top spot.
