A Liverpool mum who was arrested at an airport and banned from an airline for being too drunk has blamed her behaviour on "burnout". Leanne Burns, 44, a care worker and mother of two, regularly whisked her children away on foreign holidays, driven by the desire to "give them some happy times".

In 2024 alone, she ran the London Marathon and took her kids on a trip to Turkey.

In a bid to squeeze in another holiday, Leanne booked a trip to Faro, Portugal during the October half term last year. Upon arriving at the airport, she ensured her children, aged eight and five, were fed and hydrated before ordering herself a drink at the bar.

She then purchased a bottle of wine from duty free and continued to pour herself glasses of wine.
