A tourist tragically lost his life after falling from a renowned monument in Rome, witnessed by his horrified daughter.
Morimasa Hibino, a Japanese national, is believed to have lost his balance and fallen approximately 22ft to his death last night at around 9:50pm local time. The 69 year old fell from the perimeter wall of the Pantheon in the Italian capital while reportedly sitting on the edge of the monument.
The police were alerted to the tragedy when a passing priest discovered the man lying in a ditch, as reported by Italian newspaper la Repubblica. Emergency services and firefighters rushed to the historic site, where they had to force open a gate outside the landmark to reach the tourist.
Despite their best efforts, the man was declared dead at the scene.
