MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- A pedestrian was hit and killed by a train overnight Friday into Saturday, Memphis Police said.

The pedestrian was hit between American Way and Lamar, police said. The victim was pronounced dead on the scene.

Police said they are investigating, but provided no further information.

Police also responded to a shooting in the same area that left a man critically injured.

Officers responded to the 2700 block of Marlene Street at 11:30 p.m. Friday night. They found one male victim.

Police are investigating, but had no suspect information.
