MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The West Memphis Police Department has charged 18-year-old Davarious Speed with first degree murder and theft of a firearm in connection with a Sept. 22 fatal shooting.
Officers were called to the 300 block of South Ok St about a shooting around 12:45 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 22.
When officers arrived they found a man, identified as Jai Harris, in the driver's seat of a silver Mercedes SUV suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Life savings measures were performed on the scene, but Harris died after being taken to the hospital.
After an investigation by the Criminal Investigation Division Detectives, Speed was developed as a suspect and a warrant was issued for first degree murder and theft of a firearm.
On Oct. 24, Speed was charged. He was already incarcerated at the C
