MINOT, N.D. (KMOT) - Minot doesn’t recycle glass because there is currently a small market for it, and it’s expensive.
It can cost between $70 and $90 per ton to recycle glass, but recent studies show it could only end up selling for about $10 per ton.
But Eric Hansen, the owner of Urban Winery in Minot, collects glass bottles to reuse them for wine.
Since he started his shop eight years ago, he’s reused more than 120,000 bottles.
But he owes it to the community for taking the time to drop off their empty bottles.
“My customers that come in to make wine, they recycle their own bottles. And I have some little wine clubs that have done this five, six, seven times over. So, they’re reusing that bottle over and over again,” said Hansen.
He asks that the bottles come clean in and out, but
