After a vehicle ended up in the Oconto River, Oconto Fire & Rescue personnel headed into the water to attempt a rescue Oct. 24.
The lone person in the vehicle safely got back to shore, in the area of McDonald Street and Smith Avenue, shortly before 5 p.m., but emergency personnel were uncertain how many people were in the SUV when they arrived, as it was initially reported one person was still trapped in the vehicle.
Responders put on water rescue suits and, tethered to the shore by safety lines, entered the river to check the vehicle for other people.
Two good Samaritans who witnessed the accident helped the driver out of the water.
No injuries were reported, Oconto Fire & Rescue Capt. John Floyd said.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation by the Oconto Police Departm
