The Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission (MORPC) recently proposed a new Amtrak route, the "Midwest Connect", that would link four major cities together: Pittsburgh, Columbus, Fort Wayne, and Chicago, and has attracted hundreds of thousands of investments from Ohio communities, with around 80% of the funding expected to come from the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA).
The proposed route would attract more businesses and tourism across Central Ohio, connecting families, students, and travelers, and was described by the MORPC's Executive Director William Murdock as a "strategic investment." But people aren't sold on this newly proposed Amtrak route, with one social media user saying, "It's a mistake."
